Which E27 bulb form should I choose?

GLS (A60) for shaded fittings where the bulb is hidden: ceiling pendants with shades, table lamps, floor lamps. Globe (G95, G125) for exposed fittings where the spherical form is part of the design. Edison (ST64) for industrial, vintage, and decorative exposed pendants. Candle (C35) for E27 chandeliers and sconces. Mirror Crown for exposed fittings where glare reduction is needed.

The base type is the constant; the bulb form is the variable. Start with the fitting and work backward to the shape.

Is E27 the same as ES?

Yes. E27 is the technical designation (Edison 27mm). ES (Edison Screw) is the common UK name for the same base. The terms are interchangeable.
