What MR16 spotlights does Dulora offer?
There are three in the range. The Sunset Dim MR16 is a dim-to-warm spotlight that automatically shifts from 2700K warm white at full brightness down to 1800K candlelight warmth as you dim, delivering 450 lumens from 7 watts with a fixed 36° beam. The FlexBeam MR16 has a manually adjustable beam that you can set to 24°, 36°, or 55° on site before installation, delivering 460 lumens from 7 watts in either 2700K or 3000K. The 7W MR16 LED Spotlight is a straightforward 36° warm white spotlight at 2700K delivering 400 lumens.
What transformer do I need?
All three spotlights operate on 12V AC and require a compatible low-voltage transformer. We have tested and confirmed more than 90 models from brands including Philips, Osram, Tridonic Atco, Jung, Aurora, Enlite, Lutron, Schneider, and others. Do I need a minimum number of globes for my transformer?
For some transformers, yes. A number of models require at least 2 lamps connected to operate correctly. Running a single globe on one of these units is one of the most common causes of flickering or a globe failing to turn on. Our MR16 compatibility list notes which transformers carry this requirement.
Are the spotlights dimmable?
Yes, all three are dimmable. A quality trailing-edge LED dimmer gives the best results. The Sunset Dim MR16 also shifts colour temperature as you dim, which is automatic and requires no additional setup beyond a compatible dimmer.
What dimmer should I use?
A trailing-edge LED dimmer is recommended for all three. The Dulora OmniDim IP20 driver is also confirmed compatible. For a broader list of compatible dimmers for Dulora LED products, refer to the dimmer compatibility article in the Help Centre.
My MR16 globe is flickering. What should I do?
Start with these checks: confirm your transformer is on the MR16 compatibility list; check whether your transformer requires a minimum of 2 lamps and whether only 1 is currently connected; confirm your dimmer is rated for LED loads; and check the globe is fully seated in the socket. If you share your transformer and dimmer details with our team, we can check compatibility and help identify the cause.
What is the beam angle?
The Sunset Dim MR16 and 7W MR16 LED Spotlight both have a fixed 36° beam. The FlexBeam MR16 has an adjustable lens that can be set to 24° for a tight accent, 36° for general spotlighting, or 55° for a wider surface wash. The beam angle on the FlexBeam must be selected before the globe is inserted into the fitting, as the lens ring is not accessible once the globe is seated.
What colour temperatures are available?
The Sunset Dim MR16 shifts automatically from 2700K at full brightness down to 1800K when dimmed fully. The FlexBeam MR16 is available in 2700K warm white or 3000K soft white. The 7W MR16 LED Spotlight is available in 2700K warm white only.
What is the CRI?
The FlexBeam MR16 and 7W MR16 LED Spotlight are rated CRI 97, delivering exceptional colour accuracy. The Sunset Dim MR16 is rated CRI 95, which is still ultra-high and renders warm, natural-looking light throughout the full dimming range.
Can I use these in enclosed or glass downlight fittings?
Yes. All three spotlights are suitable for use in glass and enclosed downlight fittings.
Are they suitable for outdoor use?
No. All three are rated IP20 and designed for dry indoor use. They are not suitable for wet areas, shower zones, or exposed outdoor locations.
What is the lifespan and warranty?
The Sunset Dim MR16 and FlexBeam MR16 are rated at 40,000 hours. The 7W MR16 LED Spotlight is rated at 25,000 hours. All three carry a 3-year warranty.
Do they work with existing halogen downlight fittings?
Yes. All three use a standard GU5.3 bi-pin base and are designed as direct retrofits for existing 12V MR16 halogen downlight fittings. The key consideration is transformer compatibility; many older transformers were calibrated for 50W halogens and may not reliably drive a low-wattage LED globe. Check your transformer against the MR16 compatibility list before swapping globes.
